For many years, I have worked as a nurse, primarily in psychiatry, and especially with patients of non-Danish ethnic backgrounds diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression, and anxiety. My work has involved providing individual, supportive, and therapeutic counseling in an outpatient setting. Additionally, I have been responsible for guiding patients on healthy eating and other lifestyle factors.
I have undertaken numerous teaching assignments in transcultural psychiatry, including cultural understanding, perceptions of illness, PTSD, transcultural nursing, and the development of a cultural questioning guide. I have also authored chapters in professional books on these topics.
I am trained as a supervisor and consultant from DISPUK with a narrative and systemic approach and have supervised many interdisciplinary groups. Furthermore, I am certified as an EMDR therapist. EMDR is a trauma therapy recognized by the WHO. During my 10 years as a head nurse, I earned a diploma in management and nursing science from Aarhus University.
I am proud to be part of the SHAPE team and I am eager to contribute to SHAPE’s mission. I have been a vegetarian for over 20 years and firmly believe that SHAPE can inspire many people to live a greener and healthier life. It is significant that SHAPE is based on evidence-based material, which can provide people with greater knowledge and understanding of the importance of a plant-based diet and sustainability, and the positive impact it can have on individual health, the climate, and our shared environment, which we all have a responsibility to protect.
