Whole-Food Plant-Based Diet
In this article, we explore the key principles of the whole-food plant-based diet and its numerous dimensions, demonstrating how each aspect points in the same direction toward a more happy, healthy, and sustainable life.
The whole-food plant-based diet has attracted significant attention in recent years as a lifestyle choice that offers a multitude of benefits, including improved health, sustainability, animal welfare, psychological well-being, and empowerment. By promoting the consumption of whole, unprocessed plant foods and completely eliminating animal-derived products and processed items, the whole-food plant-based diet serves as a unifying approach to better living.
A whole-food plant-based diet centers on the consumption of food made from whole, unprocessed plant foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds. This diet excludes animal products, including meat, dairy, and eggs. It also excludes ultraprocessed foods as well as added sugars, processed oils and white flour (Watch our film ‘How Ultra-Processed Foods are ‘Designed’ to be Addictive’). It pays special attention to food quality, promoting locally sourced, organic food whenever possible.
