The peasant boy gains influence when he confidently opens a door that the king thought was locked. The king takes a shortcut through the open door and defeats the nobleman in their race to the other side of the wall.

"Once upon a time, there was a man who was so at ease with himself that he was able to gain influence."

The notion of influence

The capacity to control or impact persons and events by virtue of one’s position or resources. Capacity to impact the properties, appearance or development of someone or something.

If we lack faith in ourselves, how can others have faith in us? If we do not believe we can gain influence, we probably cannot.

We have to take responsibility for our own life and fight for what we hold dear, and we have to believe that, of course, we can impact situations and gain influence where it matters to us most.

Without that attitude, we lack the very fuel we need to achieve what we need – and what the world needs.
