"Once upon a time, there was a valuable woman who believed in community values."

The notion of common values

Whoever we are, we are shaped by our life experiences. We are affected by the values of the people around us – qualities that we appreciate – and we carry these values with us.

We absorb the values, and they reside in us in a more or less processed form. Some values are conscious, while others exist at an unconscious level. When we engage in good communities with others, we do so based on a common set of values that is not necessarily explicitly stated but which is nevertheless clear.
